Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT) is one of the non-profit associations. It has a concrete plan to promote exchanges of academic knowledge on every type of electric vehicle technology and innovation. The association also provides the consultation about regulations, standard, and electric vehicle technology development in Thailand.
At the present, Dr. Yossapong Laoonualserves as the President of the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT). He aims, by means of widespread use of electric vehicle (EV) in the country, to solve PM 2.5 pollution issue in the country and global warming that expands globally.
Recently, EVAT accepted the invitation to attend “BUS & TRUCK ’19” which will be held during November 7-9, 2019 at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC). The event’s purpose is to encourage transportation industry to use electric energy with buses and trucks including other commercial vehicles.
EVAT is preparing to join BUS & TRUCK ’19
Dr.Yossapong revealed that EVAT was ready to participate in “BUS & TRUCK ’19”. The meeting of the association members would be held in the event along with the seminars with specialists to exchange knowledge and ideas for transportation entrepreneurs.
“We want to encourage public transportation to switch to an electric vehicles (EV). This is what we want to make it happen with all kinds of public transportation such as buses, intercity public transportation, motor bikes, tuk-tuk, and taxi, Large size cars and public transportation have a growth-popularity. For example, Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) provides services by using a-hundred- percent electric power buses. EVAT is one of the supporters of this project. We also want to have EV trucks in transportation industry.” said Dr. Yossapong.
If the transportation industry uses a hundred percent electric vehicles and does not use fuel, there will not be pollution in the air. When the solar roof is installed, we almost use power for free. As a result, the highlight is we will The pollution level measured might turn out to be zero.
Auto companies secretly develop electric energy.
When it comes to the question of how much auto companies interest in electric energy market, the answer might be none of them wants to be outdated because electric vehicles have become the mainstream development. It is believed that commercial vehicles will be greatly benefited which is different from household cars beacuse there are only few of this type of car, so the drivers will think that it is not worth for switching to an electric energy. Although the price of EV cars may be higher, it is worth the energy they save.
The problem now, however, is which company will acheive the credibility after manufacturing such EV cars. Due to the short amount of motor companies who want to manufactureelectric vehicles, EVAT wants to support the large auto companies in selling commercial vehicle in Thailand.
Chinese electric buses win the industry.
The most well-known large EV auto companie are from China because China is the inventor of buses and encourages people to use them. We might see during the 2008 Beijing Olympics that China promoted the use of buses in every city for good image and it resulted in a great number of buses in China. Each city and each province have a great deal of buses. Many organizations currently want them to be electrical vehicles and the price has been improving continuously. In general, electric-vehicle cars have already started to be in used in Korea, Japan, and Europe which is considered positive for the future as a whole.
The exhaust gas is not the major problem of PM 2.5.
The solution of PM 2.5 could be completely by switching to an electric energy in order to reduce air pollution. Actually, the black fumes spewed by large cars and trucks is not PM 2.5 because black fumes is just a smoke. This visible smoke is not to be afraid of. What is more alarming is the invisible. Elimination exhaust gas does not solve the problem at its root. Some countries do not have the issue of exhaust gas, but there still are PM 2.5 problem. As long as motors are run by engines, PM 2.5 will be produced. So to speak, the exhaust gas is easy to be seen while what we cannot see is particles of dust.
